The charity was founded in February 1996 as a project by an organisation called Arun Council for Voluntary Services. Their initial responsibility was that of coordinating organisations that required transport with other organisations who had transport so the community could undertake and fulfil their various commitments.
It was soon discovered that there was a growing need to transport people to doctors, dentists, hospitals and other appointments who either couldn’t use the charities own vehicles or public transport, so both the social car scheme and the Dial-A-Ride services were formed.
Over the following years ACCT continued to develop and grow from its original inception and in April 2000, it became both a registered charity and an independent company in its own right, being run and managed out of the Old Dairy in Littlehampton until the Dairy’s closure in April 2013.
Today, the organisation is run and managed from its new premises based on the Rudford Industrial Estate in Ford, not far from Littlehampton and currently transports around 2,000 clients a month within the Arun area.
As well as conveying clients to their respective appointments, ACCT has an ongoing commitment to prevent social isolation within the community so the charity organises weekly minibus trips to local visitor attractions, restaurants, places of local and historical interest and shopping centres.
If you feel we could help you, your organisation, or your club, then please contact us today and see if we can offer a solution for your transport needs.
